The Symmetrical Components tool is an Excel Workbook that shows the breakdown of an arbitrary three-phase set of vectors into its Symmetrical Components.
This tool is implemented in Excel in order to facilitate its use by students and professional engineers alike.
The spreadsheet takes the Magnitude and Angle of each of the vectors as an input as shown in the image below.
Using this information, the Cartesian coordinates of the origin and end of each vector are calculated to be used in the chart.
After this, the symmetrical components are calculated for Positive, Negative and Zero sequence. All of these are then also reported in a chart overlaying each of the component vectors on top of the original set. This is shown in the figure below.
