The Harmonics Visualiser tool is an Excel workbook that presents the vectorial and sinusoidal representation of a system of harmonic components.
The magnitude of the vectors can be entered on the left-side of the graphs and the angles are calculated automatically depending on the order of the harmonic component.
The vectors are presented as a three phase system whilst the sinusoidal graph is referenced to Phase A or Red Phase. The sinusoidal chart also shows a summation of all the harmonic components into the final resulting wave form.
The tool includes an animation function in which the vectors are rotated through a 360 degree cycle to visualise the relationship of the harmonic components on each phase with respect to the angle. Simply press the “Run” button to start the animation and the “Stop” button to stop it. The “Step” option controls how many degrees the animation jumps in between frames. The smaller the “Step” the higher the resolution of the animation but also the slower it runs, depending on your machine.
All the calculations that make the two graphs up are presented underneath the main charts.
